JosephDayani

Joseph Dayani was born in Tel Aviv in 1952 to a staunchly Zionist family from Tehran. He has a younger sister Minoo and a younger brother Haim. Their father, Mansour Haim Dayani and their Mother Munis Rokhsar Dayani were both born in Iran to large families, who were educated with Jewish and Zionist values. His grandfather Aragol Dayani held an influential position in the Government of Iran. In the mid 1930’s, his father made the arduous journey of emigrating to Palestine where he later met and married Munis. Her parents with seven children had all moved to Palestine as Zionists. Mansour was injured fighting in Israel’s War of Independence where Munis was also a volunteer. She currently resides in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles with his sister. In 1963, Mansour died suddenly whilst visiting family in Tehran, the result of which caused great hardship and turmoil for the family. Joseph and his younger brother Haim went to a boarding school in Israel called Naveh Hadassah. It was a wonderful school run by the Jewish Agency together with the educators Ahouva and NachumManelson. The school provided not only a strong foundation and education for children from all over the world, but was also a substitute family for many of them In 1968 Joseph went to London England to live with an uncle and to study Engineering. In the early 1970’s he started a construction company which then became the Joseph Samuel Group, now operating internationally. Joseph is involved with various charities in Israel and the UK and is a stalwart supporter of the Jaffa Institute. He is the proud father of Davida, Judith, Rebecca and Samuel. He has eight grandchildren and very recently a great granddaughter was born in Israel. His granddaughter Ella is currently serving in the IDF.
