is located in the heart of Modi’in and is a kind of bridge connecting the modern and contemporary city with the ancient city that existed here thousands of years ago. A visit to the museum begins with a short experiential video recounting the history of the city from its ancient beginnings to its modern development today (suitable from age 4 and up). The museum is a veritable archeology treasure trove, with more than 150 artefacts on display, but it is also a platform for contemporary local art, regularly organizing temporary exhibitions
that create a dialogue between the art of today and the heritage of the past. Workshops and lectures are held here year-round, and guided tours of the city’s various heritage sites are also available. modiinmuseum.org.il The “Open House” initiative On cactuses and other stories Dov Goldberger, Professor of Education, Society and Community, invites visitors to discover his incredible cactus garden. Across 60sqm, cacti of every kind grow inside old pots and pans, lamps,
cheese graters, etc., as well as along the path that leads to his home and on the street outside. A tour of this unique cactus garden includes stories about the specificities of this special plant and its properties – just be careful not to get pricked. This type of garden isn’t common in Israel, and according to Goldberger, he is the only one in the country to have a certain variety that blooms from April to June with beautifully colorful flowers. Goldberger is a gracious host, and when you enter his home, you are no less surprised by his impressive collections of
