The JNF is upgrading the Moshe Sharett memorial site | The KKL-JNF is upgrading the Moshe Sharett memorial site and lookout deck in HaMeginim Forest. Located at the highest point in the forest, the site commemorates the life of Israel’s second ever Prime Minister and first ever Minister of Foreign Affairs. A new memorial wall with information and historical photographs is in the process of being added to the site, as well as a short, accessible walking path leading to the nearby parking lot. A picnic area and facilities for visitors and hikers will also be built around the lookout deck.
New walking paths opening around the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve | The Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, which includes the Nahal David trail, is still recovering from the unusual flood that severely damaged the promenade infrastructure, with some of the trails having lately reopened, including one going from Tel Goren to the Ein Gedi Spring and Dodim Cave, as well as another leading to the Dry Canyon. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority has also reopened the short trail along Nahal David which leads to the first waterfall and back. The section between the first waterfall and the David Waterfall, including the connection to Dodim Cave will remain closed until the reserve is fully rehabilitated, so there’s currently no direct access to the David Waterfall.
Israel Tourism Month | All through November, hundreds of businesses from across the country will be taking part in the “Israel Tourism Month”. A large-scale national initiative led by the Ministry of Tourism at a cost of NIS 10 million, the project aims to encourage domestic tourism in Israel. A multitude of experiences will be on offer, be it in the spheres of accommodation, sports, workshops, museums, live shows, wellness, etc., according to geographic area - Jerusalem, the North, Tel Aviv, and the South. All sorts of advantages such as free tours or experiences at the symbolic price of NIS 18 will be on offer, as well as hotel discounts (of at least 25%), and more. Special live events will also be held on Fridays, from 10am to 3pm, with live shows by leading Israeli artists alongside food stalls featuring the best of local produce (israeltourismmonth.co.il).
The Abraham Group wins top global youth travel award
The Abraham Group has won the 2025 Global Youth Travel Awards in the “Best Local Community Engagement” category (for the fourth time). The award was presented at the World Youth & Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in Lisbon, Portugal. The annual WYSTC Awards recognize organizations and individuals who have demonstrated leadership, creativity, and commitment to promoting responsible and sustainable youth travel. The judges noted that during the war, the Abraham Group demonstrated how a tourism business can become a real social lever, as indeed, Abraham hostels in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Eilat became emergency centers for hundreds of evacuee families. Also, in tandem with the Gvanim Association, the group launched the “Abraham’s Tent” program, which invites people to come together to process the trauma and grief brought on by the events of these past years.
