Editor’s Letter
September marks the arrival of fall and the holiday season, beginning with Rosh Hashanah and its family feasts. But sadly, things are not yet back to normal in Israel, with the war still going on. Holiday joy is tinted with sadness, and all optimism (however cautious) is accompanied by a sense of anxiety. In times like these, discovering new landscapes, taking time off to recharge your batteries, is so very welcome. This month, our magazine introduces you to the wonders of the Dead Sea region and the Judean Desert town of Arad. The Dead Sea is a place like no other on the planet, and it hardly needs any PR - but if until now you thought that the healing properties of its mud and salt were the only reasons to visit it, you are warmly invited to discover its wild side and experience the thrills of kayaking along salt crystal beaches, and more. Arad is a desert town with a surprisingly rich food and wine scene, and it offers unique views of the Judean Desert. It’s also home to the first professional racetrack in Israel that
offers visitors the chance to have a go at extreme driving. In our magazine section, you’ll find our interview with beloved Israeli singer songwriter Rita, who’s returning to the stage this month with her new show “Let’s Dance!”. We talked to her about the challenges of making music in difficult times, and the need to find hope and comfort in music. As always, you’ll find our recommendations for the main cultural events across the country this month, our guides, news updates, and reviews of all the new items you need for your next vacation – as well as a look at some of our favorite fish restaurants, and ideas for designer items to gift your loved-ones this holiday season. And as ever, we ceaselessly continue to hope and pray for the release of our hostages still held captive in Gaza. I wish you all a Hag Sameach, a peaceful flight, and a pleasant read, Nava Marton @nava.marton I Nava@atmospheres.co.il

It opens at 06:28-06:29, the time the horror began, and continues for 80 condensed minutes, unflinchingly touching upon both the monstrosity of what took place, and the manifestations of exceptional human resilience and courage. The show is a blend of monologues, dance pieces, poetry readings, flamenco, video art, and more, presented by 15 exceptional artists who invite audiences into a space of collective processing of trauma. One of the wonders of the world, the Dead Sea offers a stunning abundance of attractions, be them historical, cultural, or geological – not to mention an unparalleled array of adventure experiences such as kayaking, jeep tours, and pampering spa treatments. Now’s the perfect time to head down south, and revel in the glory of nature / By Yaniv Levi Beyond the salt and mud baths: 48 dazzling hours at the Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is a place like no other. Beyond its status as world capital of mud baths and luxury spa treatments, it is also a part of Israel unlike any other, with fascinating geological, historical, and cultural sites. Here, at the lowest point on Earth, the landscapes are arid, primeval, and bursting with unique mineral deposits, offering a rich variety of outdoor activities that allow you to experience the power of the desert at its most intense. The Tamar Regional Council, located west and south of the Dead Sea, comprises Kibbutz Ein Gedi, the Neve Zohar community settlement, Moshav Neot HaKikar, Moshav Ein Tamar, Moshav Ein Hatzeva, and

the further away from the shore you get, the more challenging the rowing becomes, as the wind gets more persistent - and the views more spectacular. White, glowing salt crystals in various shapes protrude from out of the water, growing into giant human-like shapes. The Dead Sea Guardians / By Oded Tahav, founder and chairman of the Dead Sea Guardians
The Dead Sea is one of the wonders of the world and one of the healthiest places for humans. Why? Because of the amount of oxygen here, and because the amount of minerals, like bromine for instance, is about 200 times that of anywhere else in the world. Bromine calms the nervous system, improves quality of sleep, reduces stress, restores skin cells, and improves blood circulation. Together with low radiation and the silence of the desert, the Dead Sea has been, since the dawn of time, a nerve center for those seeking health and longevity. It is a symbol of the connection between time, people, and nations. It is a unique place that brings people together, from all over the world, to one focal point. Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital: Leading Israel's Response to Trauma and Forging the Future of Rehabilitation Medicine
As Israel faces an unprecedented wave of trauma among its soldiers and security personnel, Reuth TLV is leading the nation’s response—both on the frontlines of recovery and in building the future of rehabilitation medicine. In the wake of ongoing conflict, Reuth opened its Trauma Clinic, a multidisciplinary center dedicated to rehabilitating soldiers, reservists, and security personnel. Psychiatrist Dr. Miri Kfir, the clinic’s director, has pioneered a comprehensive model of care. “Soldiers are dealing with mental injuries on a scale we’ve never known before,” she explains. “We’ve built a treatment model that combines body, mind, and spirit—tailored in full collaboration with each individual, helping them reconnect with their strengths and support systems so they can grow and return to function.” Patients attend twice a week, receiving a wide range of therapies that blend physical and emotional healing: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, biofeedback, yoga, music therapy, therapeutic gardening, and animal-assisted therapy. These are delivered alongside psychiatric and psychological care, spiritual guidance, and support from rehabilitation

As she celebrates almost 40 years of a glorious career, and just before she takes the stage once again with her new show “Let’s Dance!”, we sat down with singer-songwriter Rita to talk about what it means to make music in challenging times, and the idea of putting together a special family show with ex-husband Rami Kleinstein and their two singer daughters / By Maya Cohen The voice of love

A month after October 7, beloved Israeli singer-songwriter Rita was supposed to return to the stage with a new show entitled “Let’s Dance!”; but times demanded the show be put on hold. Now, it is finally happening - for two dates, September 15 th and November 11 th , at Tel Aviv Port’s Hangar 11. The show is a blend of video art, DJ sets, and renditions of all her greatest hits in new electro arrangements. This past year was a big year for Rita, who received a special award at a ceremony at the Peres Center for Peace, dedicated to inspiring women who demonstrated leadership in the wake of October 7, and an honorary doctorate from Bar Ilan University in recognition of her unique contribution to Israeli art and culture. The trailblazer “Let’s Dance!” is a project entirely inspired by her last album, “Duende”, which she made in collaboration with music producer Eyal Leon Katzav (aka ELK). A special project, the album came out on prestigious red vinyl. “There are 12 songs on “Duende”, sung in 7 different languages. Making it was perhaps one of the most fun, most exciting projects I’ve ever undertaken. It’s an album that’s full of joy. It just makes you want to start dancing”, she says. “It took us about two years to figure out how to translate the Duende project into a live show”, she explains excitedly. “We gave the songs an electro feel, but the show also contains Spanish, Andalusian, and Gypsy-style sounds. At the project’s helm are Rita’s ex-husband singer and producer Rami Kleinstein, and producer Assi Tal. “The show was initially set to launch in November 2023, but after October 7, I decided there was no

way to even pronounce the words “Let’s dance”. For months, I traveled the country, singing at funerals, in hospitals for wounded soldiers, and for those that had been displaced from their homes”, she recalls. Dancing away the fear “I experienced countless moments of deep connection with people who were in the midst of the most excruciating grief and pain, and I’m launching my new show with all of those people in my heart. My will is that together with the audience, we manage to dance away the fear and the pain. The show is a celebration - a big party”, she says. Even the “usual” shows aren’t usual anymore “Everything’s different now. Music shows have become a place people come to, to reinforce their sense of hope and strength. I feel as though each audience member lays their heart in my hands for the duration of a show, and it’s my job to strengthen and console it”, she says. Rita and Kleinstein have already produced two successful shows together. For her, it’s clear they’ll

continue to work together, even envisaging the idea of creating a mega family show together with their talented singer daughters, Meshi and Noam. Will there be a show involving all four of you in the future? “I hope so. I hope we get to do something with the girls. But I think it’s great that each one of them is also on her own path. I’m so impressed by them, each one carving out her own career for herself. We’ll definitely be coming together for a joint project later on down the line”, she says. ˆ

Hashachaf | Tel Aviv This recently opened eatery, a stone’s throw away from Tel Aviv’s Hamesila Park, is just what this emerging part of the city needed – a fun and relaxed place to sit down and enjoy fresh, perfectly seasoned fish and inventive appetizers without emptying your wallet. Hashachaf (“seagull” in Hebrew) is easy to identify, with its big, colorful mosaic outside. Generous main courses are served alongside delicious sides, and the pricing is fair, even surprisingly so, considering the neighborhood it’s in, and the high cost of living in Tel Aviv. Platters of tzatziki, taramasalata, and Mediterranean-inspired mezes are served along with fried fish and chips, grilled and baked fish, and more. Hashachaf also has its own little bar that exudes a certain Jaffa like charm - the perfect location to enjoy a light nibble and a drink on your way to or from the beach or a night out. hashachaf
