The Mateh Yehuda Regional Council is part of the District of Jerusalem

and comprises 64 moshavim, kibbutzim, Arab villages, rural

settlements, and one Arab-Jewish village. Its name stems from the Bible, where it is said that its territory was part of the land allotted to the Tribe of Judah (Yehuda).
