Sir Ken Robinson Do schools kill creativity?

Caleb Meakins Facing the fear of failure

Creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson talks about how school and the education system can ruin creativity, using amusing examples. “If it weren’t so funny it’d be sad” is probably the first thought that comes to mind, as he explains how “schools shape our brains in ways that end up working against us”. According to him, “it’s time we rethought the foundations of our educational systems”.

Failure expert Caleb Meakins begins his talk by asking the audience what they would do if they were certain they wouldn’t fail. He then goes on to describe some of the numerous challenges he intentionally set for himself in his life, the paths he took to overcome them and the ways with which he fought against the fear of failing. For Meakins, the secret lies in killing the fear, as he ends his talk with another question to the audience: “what dreams have you given up on out of the fear of failing? Remember that without failure, there is no success”.
