Metal Studio Nachshon

Wood Ba’alot Melacha After years of working in other design domains, Bezalel Academy graduate Doron Shai and École Boulle graduate Anat Glazer, devoted themselves to woodwork and carpentry, founding their own design studio in 2015. Their creations combine the traditional with the contemporary, be it in terms of technique or in the choice of materials, with the aim to create timeless pieces that will be passed down through the generations. Their hanukkiahs, one made of ash wood, the other of American walnut, have an easy-to-clean detachable iron element, and can be placed in the home as beautiful sculptures during the rest of the year. Salt SaltwareDesign

Salt has been a major substance for creation for Lia Bruce, a Bezalel Academy graduate who decided recently to focus on product design, founding her own brand called SaltwareDesign. In collaboration with the Hebrew University’s chemistry research institute, Bruce has developed a new, eco-friendly, non-polluting technology based on a byproduct of salt that is considered an environmental problem. For her, using salt as a design material is also an expression of her cultural and spiritual attachment to Israel. Her hanukkiah has nine branches and can be assembled in various ways – as a Hanukkah menorah, a set of Shabbat candlesticks, or as a decorative object. Price: $297 saltwaredesign.com
