Everybody’s always talking about success, but they almost never mention how to achieve it, says Alon Ulman, personal development mentor, founder, and owner of the “Winner’s Code” group. According to Ulman: “success is not a fluke. Be it in business, love, or even football – the best way to define success is the accomplishment of progress. And it’s a never-ending process”. Do you believe success is within everybody’s reach? “Absolutely. Obviously not everyone can be Cristiano Ronaldo or Albert Einstein, but success is the capacity to understand where you are and move towards where you want to be. For that to happen, goals need to be set; and everybody can do that”. exceptional life. Once an army man with a promising military career ahead of him, his life took a different course after his lungs collapsed while on holiday abroad. Repatriated back to Israel and restored to good health, he suffered another pneumothorax five years later. Part of his lung was removed, and he left the army. Ulman then began listening to lectures on personal growth, and against medical advice, began training for a marathon, then a triathlon and eventually crossed the Ironman triathlon finishing line. So he knows a thing or two about breaking boundaries– and Overcoming fear and setting bigger goals Alon Ulman has led an

according to him, all it takes is following a few rules. Nowadays, Ulman is one of Israel’s most prominent personal and business development mentors. Founded in 2010, his company “Winner’s Code” has exponentially grown, and he regularly lectures to packed audiences about how to achieve success. His book “Breaking boundaries – how to live the life you always wanted” is an international bestseller and he has coached thousands of people and hundreds of organizations and companies. “Breaking boundaries means setting goals that will inspire you to continue to progress and grow. Usually, fear dictates how far boundaries are set. While fear isn’t a bad thing in itself, it’ll often lead you to stay in your comfort zone, which kills motivation. People usually fear what could potentially happen, but never actually does”, he says. How exactly are boundaries broken? “There are six steps”, explains Ulman. “The first is setting a big goal. Then, you need to adopt a can-do attitude and overcome any potential mental blocks. The third step is very important and consists in doing something practical: learning a new skill for instance. Next

step is establishing a plan (business or personal) with the help of a coach or expert. The fifth step is to stay away from any negative influences. And last but not least, the sixth step is creating a supportive environment around you – it is essential”, he continues. Creating an exciting vision for the future and constantly growing What do you consider to be the most important success index for a business? “Hands down the quality of its CEO. Does he inspire his employees to dream big? Does he have an exciting vision for the future? Is he full of passion and motivation for what he does? A tired CEO will have a tired business. The more you inspire people, the more your business will grow and develop”, says Ulman. After two years of pandemic induced lockdowns, Ulman is optimistic: “people have come round to the idea that success is a learnable skill. The youth of today is brimming with motivation and desire to learn. External conditions are never ideal, but individuals have the power to change their own lives. Successful people know what they want. The rest know what they don’t want”. ■
