As Jerusalem begins to prepare for Hanukkah and Christmas and the festive spirit starts to set in, what better time to head over and visit its myriad wonders. In recent months, new hotels have opened their doors across the city, and many cultural sites are holding winter and Hanukkah activities, as well as exciting cultural and artistic events. Here are a few of the most notable. Lights everywhere Hannukah and Christmas in Jerusalem Illuminated tour: a guided evening bike tour through illuminated monuments across the city, including the Chords Bridge - illuminated with holograms and changing colors throughout the holiday season - the Knesset, the Old City Walls and the YMCA Tower. End with an (optional but highly recommended) stop at Sweet JLM – a sweets and pastries market on the Armon Hanatziv Promenade (travelingjerusalem.co.il). Hannukah menorahs: a music-filled tour of the Old City and its menorah illuminated windows and streets. Christmas in the New Gate: a Christmas market at the Armenian Quarter’s New Gate, with Christmas decorations, lights, sweet treats, and mulled wine – including Santa Claus’ house (open to visitors). The Emanuel Center: a guesthouse, café, heritage museum, and Anglican church all in one – with a garden to boot. Various Christmas events are set to take place here throughout the festive season (emanueljlm.co.il). For more information on upcoming Hannukah and Christmas events in Jerusalem: itraveljerusalem.com
