Editor’s Letter

The realities we’re sometimes faced with in Israel can be beyond challenging. Last month’s war with Iran kept us awake at night and closed our skies – but now we’re once again able to breathe and go back to dreaming about new landscapes and cultivating moments of peace. This edition of our magazine, the one you’re holding in your hands right now, feels especially symbolic to me – up to the very last minute we weren’t sure if we’d be able to go to print. As cliché as it may sound, it is the reminder that no storm lasts forever, and that the sun always rises again. In light of this, and for those of you on their way to spending the summer holidays in Israel, we’ve concocted a series of recommendations, north to south: a new glamping site in the Upper Golan Heights’ Kibbutz Ortal, offering a pampering stay in the heart of the gorgeous Golan forests, as well as a whole range of family activities, from cherry-picking with the kids to nighttime lantern-lit forest treks; and in the south, Eilat - Israel’s ultimate vacation city, with its infinite charms and excitement - water sports, yacht tours, extreme adventure parks, snorkeling along stunning coral reefs, you name it, it’s got it. July festivals and cultural events

have thankfully been preserved from cancellation, and our events section brings you the lowdown on the main ones to look out for. However, the annual Israel Festival, considered one of country’s most important, was supposed to start July 1 st , but the war has delayed the opening to July 16 th . Our overview of the festival’s program (this year so very appositely entitled “A dream of recovery amidst the reality of war”), will give you an idea of what to look forward to, with many participating artists diving deep into the horror of October 7. And because we’re all in need of a little light-heartedness, this edition also contains all of our usual food, design, and lifestyle sections. So, whether you’re on your way back home or about to go on holiday, I hope you’ll take the time to take a deep breath and fill the heart with exciting new landscapes and experiences. And again this month (especially this month), we are thinking of our brothers and sisters still held captive in Gaza, and praying ceaselessly for their return. Wishing you a pleasant read and a peaceful flight, Nava Marton @navamarton I Nava@atmospheres.co.il
