• The Worms Family of France has generously established an annual prize for two PhD students, one from BGU and one from France, in the fields of water, desertification, solar energy, and agriculture in drylands. The prize seeks to contribute to scientific advancement in these fields as well as to foster increased collaboration between France and Israel.

Engineering on plastic-eating bacteria. • ICL Group of Israel, through the efforts of CEO Raviv Zoller and Executive Vice President of Global Operations Nitzan Moshe, made a generous gift to support scholarships for outstanding students during the School of Sustainability and Climate Change’s first year.

• ICA in Israel, the philanthropic

organization founded by Baron de Hirsch, made a generous gift for the establishment of a botanical garden

at the Sde Boker Campus. The garden will be named in honor of the foundation’s former president, Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen. • Richard Jacobson of Israel established an endowment fund in honor of Dr. Itzchak Levy to support Israeli students of Ethiopian origin who are pursuing degrees in the health sciences at BGU.

• The Banet family made a generous contribution, as part of the GRIN Project, to Dr. Gad Vatine and his group in support of his research on the mechanisms that underlie neurological disorders and his efforts to develop personalized therapies. The GRIN Project aims to find a cure for children with rare genetic diseases, such as their six-year-old son Adam.

The Genesis Philanthropy Group

has generously supported Russian speaking BGU students affected by the COVID-19 crisis. This gift marks the Foundation’s first direct collaboration with the University.

• The Portuguese recycling company Ecoiberia made a generous gift to BGU. Previously, the company financed research in the Avram and Stella Goldstein-Goren Department of Biotechnology
