10. In the unwritten law of the north, strangers in need are never turned away, a custom shared by many peoples of different traditions.

(1) There is a law in the north ordering citizens to help strangers, regardless of their tradition. (2) One of the social codes of behavior in the north is to always help strangers in need, a conduct performed by many persons from a spectrum of heritages. (3) It is mandatory in the north to always help stragers, a custom many different people traditionally share. (4) Like all other laws in the north, the rule that one should always help a stranger in need is unwritten, but shared by people of different origins.

11. The catalogues to the holdings of the archive are in such disarray that it is impossible to tell what records the archive actually possesses.

(1) The archive holds several catalogues, but no one knows where they are, because the records of archive itself are so disorderly. (2) No one knows what records are actually in the archive, because its catalogues are so badly disorganized. (3) The records held by the archive are in such disarray that the current catalogues to the archive are completely useless. (4) Those in charge of the archive will not release any information about its holdings until they have found all the catalogues and organized all the records.

12. Many feminists attributed the failure of so many women to embrace feminism to basic ingratitude.

(1) Many feminists believed that women’s failures were caused by their ingratitude. (2) Many feminists thought that women won’t hug each other because of basic incompetence. (3) According to many feminists, although women are ungrateful, they accept feminism. (4) According to many feminists, women would not accept feminism because they were ungrateful.
