Turning Vision into Reality With a landmark gift from the Jusidman Family Charitable Foundation, Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital will relocate from south Tel Aviv to a new campus in the city’s north. Dr. Orit Stein Reisner, the hospital’s director-general, speaks about an ambitious undertaking.

“We have taken on a national mission,” she continues. “Projections point to as many as 100,000 veterans who will need prolonged physical and psychological rehabilitation. And as we live longer, more of us will face injuries and illnesses of older age. Meeting that need takes infrastructure, and a new generation of physicians, nurses, and therapists.” Affiliated with Tel Aviv University, Reuth runs 12 departments and has 355 inpatient beds, Israel’s largest outpatient rehab facilities, a pain institute, eating disorders institute and a trauma center. Bringing rehabilitation and geriatrics under one roof lets its teams care for the most fragile patients, including children who need round the-clock support.

Recovery rarely happens in a single moment. It is the slow, deliberate work of learning to stand again, to speak again, to walk back into a life that an accident or illness interrupted. For 65 years, that work has been the mission of Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital. Now Reuth is preparing for the most significant move in its history – a new campus by the sea in north Tel Aviv, built to give thousands more people the chance to make that journey. Mexican philanthropists Daniel and Igal Jusidman – announced a gift of 200 million ILS toward the new campus. In recognition of this gift, the hospital will be named the Jusidman Rehabilitation Hospital. Developed in partnership with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Tel Aviv Foundation, the 1.1 billion ILS hospital is expected to be completed by 2031. The trauma of the past three years has affected tens of thousands of people, most of them in the country’s center. For each patient, rehabilitation is the difference between a life reclaimed and a life defined by what was lost. The new campus is designed with exactly that in mind: 540 beds, an expanded outpatient clinic, advanced imaging, a hydrotherapy center, a post trauma clinic, specialized institutes and clinics, and an R&D and Innovation Hub – all set among green, healing spaces where patients and families can breathe. Adjacent to the hospital, Reuth is building a 10-story affordable housing building with 250 subsidized apartments. “This is a turning point for rehabilitation and geriatric medicine in Israel,” says Dr. Orit Stein Reisner, director of the hospital. “Our teams help thousands of people return each year to their fullest function and quality of life. We treat the most complex cases and answer some of the most acute needs in Israeli society.”

“Even today, many patients do not receive the rehabilitation they deserve,” Dr. Stein Reisner says. “People wait too long for a bed. Others are left with a disability or never reach full recovery. The new hospital is being built to meet a national need.
