Israel’s landscapes are never greener than during the month of February, the winter rains having replenished streams and waterfalls, and wildflowers blossoming in meadows and fields across the country. One of the most beautiful places to visit right now is the village of Ein Kerem, immersed in the green valleys that surround Jerusalem. Ein Kerem is considered one of the holiest sites in Christianity, as it is the birthplace of St. John the Baptist, and indeed, it is replete with ancient churches and monasteries, as well as synagogues, magnificent historical buildings, charming cafés, and many art galleries and studios. Ein Kerem is home to numerous artists and artisans, many of whom lead workshops and guided tours that offer unique perspectives on their hometown, and we heartily recommend taking part in one or more of them. This time of year is also anemone season in the south of Israel, with fields of red flowers making for the most

spectacular backdrop to the region’s traditional winter festival, now renamed Darom Balev in the wake of October 7. Head over there this month to enjoy the myriad festival activities, and endless attractions the region has to offer. And as always, our magazine is full of ideas and recommendations for fun things to do this month, with an overview of some of the most anticipated cultural events, tourism news and updates, and restaurant recommendations. Note: The printed edition of the issue went to press before it became known about the return of the last hostage in Gaza, Ran Gvili z”l. I am happy to update the digital edition of the magazine with the exciting news and sign off with the Shehecheyanu blessing.
