Editor’s Letter
With summer in full swing and heat waves becoming increasingly frequent, including in Israel, what better way to fight the intense temperatures than to head over to one of the Holy Land’s wonderful water-based destinations. In this issue you’ll find a compilation of our favorite water-based activities to enjoy during the summer holidays, from surfing the waves of an artificial surf lagoon in the heart of Tel Aviv, to splashing about in a gigantic waterpark, to adrenaline-boosting tornado speedboat tours, kayaking on a beautiful lake, or spending a day at one of Israel’s beautiful beaches or natural springs. Another way to escape the heat is to head north, where the air is cooler. The Kfar Giladi Hotel, nestled among the Galilee forests, offers family package deals that combine a pampering hospitality experience with a wide range of exciting activities, treks, and tours, including a visit down a weapons cache tunnel from the times of the British Mandate and nighttime lantern-lit forest treks. The hotel is located nearby many gorgeous nature reserves and waterholes, making it no less than the ideal destination this time of year.
As always during the summer months, festivals and happenings take place across the country, including the Tel Aviv Dance Festival, Jerusalem’s Hutzot Hayotzer Arts and Crafts Fair, the Animix comics festival at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, and more. Check out our events section for an overview of the main ones to look out for. Another fun thing to do with the kids this month is spend an afternoon in one of the country’s numerous air-conditioned museums that offer many children’s activities. (See our recommendations All that remains for me to do now, is to wish you a wonderful summer, full of relaxation and family fun - though without ever forgetting our brothers and sisters still held captive in Gaza, as we ceaselessly continue to pray for their release. Wishing you a pleasant read and a peaceful flight, Nava Marton @navamarton I Nava@atmospheres.co.il on p.28). And also this month: a selection of our favorite Israeli pizzerias, north to south.
