Exhibition Vangelis Kyris: Light & Thread | MUZA - Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv

Vangelis Kyris, an Athens-born photographer specializing in fashion, portrait and art photography brings to life MUZA’s collection of Jewish traditional clothing items through a series of over one hundred dramatic photographs printed onto large stretches of cotton, upon which he has created details of delicate gold, metal and cotton embroidery that reconstruct ancient traditions. The collection features complete outfits, alongside headdresses, jewelry, and prayer shawls from the 18 th -20 th centuries from Jewish communities around the world, including Bukhara, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Poland, etc. The connection between photography and embroidery creates an innovative dialogue between art and traditional crafts, and a harmonious interplay of colors, shapes, symbols, and textures. Environmental art “50 degrees in the shade” | Dizengoff Center, Tel Aviv

Thirteen large-scale installations, video works, and animated films are currently on display in Tel Aviv’s Dizengoff Center on the occasion of the second edition of its environmental art biennale. Works include a giant egg made of cardboard and paper extracted from the packaging of motorcycles imported from Italy, a kinetic sculpture about the gradual disappearance of bees, and a series of animation works projected onto a 4.5m screen. The creators taking part come from various domains, including art, architecture, design, video and sound art, and more, who all work using both natural materials and end devices. Thought provoking and inspiring, the works on show will hopefully galvanize visitors into taking action on environmental matters. Workshops, lectures, and roundtables are also set to be held during the biennale which is a Dizengoff Center initiative, curated by Nava Benny. Entrance in free. Until June 13 th
