Editor’s Letter

Spring, and with it the Holiday of Passover, have always marked peak tourist season in Israel. This month, we recommend heading north to reconnect with the beauty and spirit of the Galilee, now that its inhabitants are returning home to rebuild their lives and communities. We spent a weekend in the Upper Galilee, and came back with a selection of ideas for what to see and do, which you can find on p.14. Last month, the members of the new “Voice of the People” initiative met together in Israel for the first time. Borne out of the belief that Jewish people around the world were in need of a shared global platform to discuss burning issues, the idea for this new global Jewish council was first developed by President Isaac Herzog at the time he was chairman of the Jewish Agency. In March, he met with

the 150 council members (50 from the USA, 50 from Israel, and 50 from the rest of the world), as they visited the communities of the south of Israel and held their very first council session. (See article on p.38). Also this month: an overview of the main local cultural highlights, a look at a special exhibition marking Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel, restaurant recommendations of establishments led by Israeli chefs around the world, ideas for Passover gifts made by Israeli designers, and more. As April 2025 begins, we remain painfully aware that the struggle for the release of the hostages in Gaza is not over yet, and we continue to pray for their release.
