Mazal | London, UK Authentic Israeli shawarma,

Helmed by chef Ayal Kitches, also owner of Japanese fusion food stall Osu in Tel Aviv’s Shuk HaCarmel, this new vermuteria-restaurant lies in the heart of Athens’ bohemian Psirri quarter. The menu is Israeli and Mediterranean in spirit, as well as inspired by East Asian flavors and techniques. Little plates of tapas blend cultures with joy and delight here, with dishes that include Moroccan fennel, orange, chili, lime, and caper salad, grilled fish, cheese platters, and more. Dao | Ko Pha-ngan, Thailand Chef Nir Mesika grew up in Israel to an Egyptian-Moroccan family where food was central. After conquering great feats in New York, including earning a spot on the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list with his eatery Zizi Limona, and opening the East-Village fine-dining restaurant Timna, he opened a second Timna in Tel Aviv in 2019 - to even greater success. When the war broke out in Israel in 2023, Mesika had just landed with his family on the Thai island of Koh Pha-ngan to start a new chapter in their lives.
