EL AL in the Iron Swords War – our year recap From flying soldiers and relatives of hostages to various destinations around the world, reinforcing flight schedules and issuing rescue flights for Israelis, to investing in social and environmental initiatives – time to look back at the work we’ve achieved this year, the most difficult and challenging in the history of the State of Israel
With the country’s flag emblazoned on its tail, EL AL embodies its role as Israel’s national airline. Since the onset of the war, EL AL has worked tirelessly to keep Israel connected to the rest of the world. The company’s teams have gone above and beyond to keep flight schedules operational, even adding flights when needed. For example, following the recent events in Amsterdam, EL AL swiftly
arranged six rescue flights, returning thousands of Israelis to safety at no additional cost to the passengers. These operations were entirely funded by EL AL. In close coordination with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, EL AL has transported relatives worldwide for diplomatic and advocacy efforts. EL AL’s initiatives ranged from serving falafel at military bases to boosting morale
with a national cheer squad supporting Paralympic athletes in Paris. Our teams, collectively and individually, have led significant projects for soldiers, families evacuated from their homes, hospital patients, and grieving families. They have also participated in activities supporting the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, embodying a spirit of solidarity and care during these difficult times. Since the beginning of the war, EL AL has launched several initiatives to honor active duty and reserve IDF soldiers, including offering free baggage allowances, priority boarding, and full refund cancellations (benefits still valid today). Additionally, approximately 20,000 free airline tickets to various destinations have been given out. Now, the company is launching a new campaign led by Hanan Ben Ari and his mother, based on a true Reserve duty days will turn into Matmid Frequent Flyer points: EL AL continues to salute IDF reservists
