EL AL and Virgin Atlantic Sign Codeshare and Loyalty Club Agreement

Or Lamishpachot, founded by Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Irit Gunders in 2008, assists bereaved families of fallen soldiers to step out of the darkness – to return to the routine of an active life. Recipient of the Begin Award in 2022, the nonprofit organization along with scores of volunteers has reached out to thousands of bereaved families since its inception. The Swords of Iron War has This year, as every year during March and May, 120 bereaved parents, most of whom had lost children in the current war, participated in an empowering journey to Rome and Milan. Dvir, whose sister fell on October 7 th writes: “Irit, in your unique way, you’ve enabled them to momentarily put aside their bereavement… to get them to smile.” Or Lamishpachot is extremely grateful to EL AL for its ongoing support. Kindly partake in our collective effort on behalf of the families of fallen soldiers. resulted in 750 additional families in need of help.

EL AL is pleased to announce a new codeshare and frequent flyer agreement with British airline Virgin Atlantic, a proud member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. The agreements, signed during the IATA AGM conference in Dubai, mark a significant step in enhancing connectivity and benefits for passengers. The signing ceremony was attended by EL AL CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia and Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss. As part of this partnership, passengers will enjoy increased flexibility on the Tel Aviv-London (Heathrow) route. The EL AL code (LY) will be added to Virgin Atlantic operated flights, while the Virgin Atlantic code (VS) will be added to EL AL-operated flights on this route. Members of EL AL’s Matmid Frequent Flyer Club and Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club will benefit from reciprocal
loyalty rewards. Points can be accumulated and redeemed on flights operated by both airlines, not just on the Tel Aviv-London route, offering greater value and earning potential for frequent flyers. Tickets for codeshare flights on the Tel Aviv-London route will be available for purchase starting June 10, for flights departing from June 19, 2024. Travelers can book these flights through both airlines’ websites, or via travel agents. EL AL’s cooperation with Virgin Atlantic joins several other partnership agreements, including agreements with Delta Air Lines, providing codeshare flights, club agreements, and connectivity to numerous destinations across the Americas, SAS for seamless travel to various Scandinavian destinations, and Air France for enhanced services on the Tel Aviv-Paris route.
