01 The neighborhood beach Bat Galim Beach, Haifa Located a stone’s throw away from the Bat Galim neighborhood, this beach is considered one of the most popular in Haifa. It’s small and intimate, simple and neighborly. Thanks to the breakwaters, swimming conditions are usually comfortable, so it’s a great beach for families with small kids. It has also become a well-known spot for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and SUP, thanks to the ideal wind direction, and the proximity with Mount Carmel which strengthens the wind intensity. Amenities: there are two lifeguard
huts, sunshades, deck chairs, showers, toilets and changing rooms, a playground, a basketball court, a surf club, a snack bar and two excellent restaurants – Shawatina and Najma. Extra feature : a cable car that’ll take you right up to the Stella Maris monastery at the top of Mount Carmel and back down again. 02 The foodie’s favorite Dado Beach, Haifa Named in memory of David (Dado) Elazar, Israel’s Chief of Staff during the Yom Kippur War, Dado beach is one of Haifa’s most popular beaches. People come here to
swim, sunbathe, see and be seen, play volleyball, while away the summer holidays – and also for the abundance of restaurants, cafés, and ice-cream parlors, among which the Camel café, a well-known spot tourists and locals have been flocking to for decades. Aside from the beach volleyball court, Dado beach also has an amphitheatre for live shows and sports events. Amenities: a breakwater, three lifeguard stations, sunshades, deck chairs and tables, outdoor fitness equipment, lawns, toilets, showers, and changing rooms. Extra feature: a freshwater paddling pool for toddlers, play facilities, a special beach wheelchair for the disabled, cycling lanes, and a skate zone.
