Lifestyle I Design

Milan Design Week, the world’s most important design event, takes place each year in April. In parallel to the “Salone del Mobile”, the main furniture fair, a myriad happenings and exhibitions are held across the city, transforming the week into a veritable design bonanza, ushering in all the year’s new trends and fashions. Here’s a selection of our favorite five / By Adi Fogel Hollander From Milan, with love

A couch designed by Faye Toogood for Tacchini

Comfort first Coziness and comfort are once again central motifs this year. Many furniture items look like huge plushy cushions assembled together. Take the “Pillo” couch, designed by Willo Perron for Knoll, for instance, or Faye Toogood’s creations, made in collaboration with several brands. For Poltrona Frau, she created a collection called “Squash” that includes armchairs that look like big comfy pillows. For Tacchini, she designed a couch and an armchair that look like piled up mattresses that exude comfiness and warmth.

Spotti Milano & Motta Architecture

Home sweet home Admiring beautiful furniture in an exhibition space is great, but it doesn’t compare to experiencing it in a real home, and as part of Design Week, brands paired up with design studios to stylize real Milanese homes. Italian brand Spotti Milano partnered up with Motta Architecture

to redecorate a historical Milanese palazzo, Danish furniture brand Muuto, partnered up with design studio H+O, and Artemest, the Italian online home décor brand, selected six international design studios to restyle an entire Milanese townhouse.
