Meet the Crew
They welcome you with a smile when you arrive at the airport, make sure you are comfortable, and fly you safely to your destination – time to get up close and personal with the EL AL Israel Airlines ground and flight personnel. Meet Crew Assigner Lihi Lazerovich
“I love the satisfying feeling of flights taking off on time and with a full crew onboard” Name: Lihi Lazerovich | Age: 52 | Marital Status : Married + 3 | Position: Crew Assigner | Years at EL AL: 11
What led you to join EL AL? “I was a flight attendant for four years in the 90s before leaving to go do an internship in the judicial system. Cut to eight years ago, when I took part in an EL AL flight attendants’ reunion, which ignited my desire to go back to my old job. I remembered how crucial crew assigning is from my years on the job, and decided it was what I wanted to do going forward”. What does your position entail? “My job is to assign crew members to flights. Each month, my colleagues and I receive a flight schedule, but the job is really about managing all the unexpected changes to it that arise, such as crew members going on sick leave, flights being added last minute, flights getting canceled, etc.” What do you most love about your job?
“That there’s never a dull moment. There’s always something going on and time flies by without you noticing – a bit like in a trading room. I love the adrenaline rush and the satisfying feeling of flights taking off on time and with a full crew onboard, sometimes against all odds”. Which part of your job do you find most challenging? “That there’s never a dull moment. There isn’t a shift that isn’t hectic. But it’s also what I most love about my job, even though I sometimes feel like I need to go on a detox from all the adrenaline“. What do you always pack with you? “I don’t believe in suitcases. ‘Travel light’ is my motto”. Which EL AL destination do you most enjoy flying to and why? “London, even if it’s a bit cliché. I lived there for three
years and am always delighted to go back whenever I can. London is like a second home to me”. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? “My son is Israel’s national boxing champion, so I follow him and support him, though I don’t go to the actual fights – that’s beyond what I can handle ”. What would you be doing now, had you not joined EL AL? “I’ve done many jobs in my lifetime, so I can safely say I wouldn’t want to be doing anything other than what I’m doing now”.
