EL AL and the 202 nd ‘Viper’ battalion | An ongoing love story

The connection between EL AL and the ‘Viper’ paratrooper battalion began 14 years ago, when EL AL joined the “Adopt a Battalion” project led by Israel’s national Soldiers’ Association. “Adopt a Battalion” is a social involvement project that aims to empower IDF soldiers by creating a meaningful connection with the business sector, both in Israel and abroad. 97 companies take part in the project, with donors from Israel and around the world. Throughout the years, EL AL staff have contributed to the project, volunteering time and experience, staying attentive to the soldiers’ needs, including in times of war. “Volunteers without borders” | EL AL flies a delegation of volunteer doctors from Tel Aviv

Last August, EL AL flew a delegation of doctors from Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital to Guatemala, as part of the humanitarian aid division of Ichilov AID, which provides medical aid to developing countries. The delegation was joined by the amazing volunteers of the “Heroes for Life” organization, founded in memory of the late IDF soldier, First Sergeant Matan Gottlieb who was killed in action during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. The “Matan Team” included Ruhama and Shmulik Gottlieb,

Matan’s parents, who joined 30 discharged soldiers in renovating schools, playing with children in villages, and assisting the doctors in setting up an improvised health clinic to treat hundreds of people from the surrounding villages unable to afford medical assistance. The volunteer work was carried out in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy and the Jewish community in Guatemala. The work carried out brought immeasurable relief and help to those most in need.
