Art Exhibition | Thomas Demand, The Stutter of History The Israel Museum, Jerusalem The work of artist Thomas Demand is currently on show at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, before moving on to be showcased in five different museums across the world. The work exhibited was created especially for the show and it focuses on the distance between world events and the way they are portrayed in photography. The show’s title: “The Stutter of History”, refers to the strangeness of the existential gap between the world we live in and the world made of paper and recycled cardboard Demand creates in his studio, as well as the gap between written and spoken history and the history that gets documented on film that often amounts to snippets of events it isn’t always possible to complete.
