Herzliya The Apollonia National Park I the Phoenicians founded the city of Arsuf, known in Israeli archeology as Tel Arshaf, in the 6 th century BC. After the Phoenicians came the Greeks, who renamed the city Apollonia. After the Greeks, the Hasmonaeans arrived, and then the Byzantines, the Crusaders and the Mamluks, etc. There are remains of each period in this extraordinary site. Informative signage lets you know about the history as you walk along. The most impressive element is the “hanging” balcony that seems

The Herzliya marina I apart from the many fun activities to enjoy here, there’s a mall, a kids’ area, restaurants, bars, and of course, yacht and surf clubs, and experiential boat ride clubs. (herzliya-marina.co.il) Food: If good vibes, food platters, alcohol, and open views of the Mediterranean is what you’re after, Nammos is the just the place for you. Its name derives from the Greek word for “view”, as well as the well-known beach in Mykonos, and its location is as good as its food. Smack-bang on the shoreline, it

as though it is hanging above the sea at 30-meters above ground. (parks.org.il) Beach fun I Herzliya’s beaches are particularly beautiful. Wide and spacious, two of them have a user friendly deck that leads down to the water and there’s also a beach open to dogs. Sidney Ali beach, named after the mosque built atop the cliff here in the 11 th century, is one of the most frequented. Unlike the other beaches, Sidney Ali is narrower and has a kurkar stone ridge with little nooks and caves carved inside.
