Tastes of the Middle East | Goldman Court The strip of beach separating modern Tel Aviv from ancient Jaffa is the last place you would expect a regal Jordanian breakfast. Yet, this surprising delight can be found here, and it’s delivered with the heart-warming generosity typical of the Hashemite kingdom’s culture of hospitality. This extraordinary brunch reflects the story of Chef Fadi Yaish, a Jordanian native who moved to Israel at the beginning of 2000. He began his culinary journey by working in Goldman Court as a dishwasher, then progressing through various kitchen roles before learning to cook. His journey came full circle when he was named chef. As a tribute to his birthplace, Yaish created a breakfast filled with flavors of the Middle East: homemade shanklish, seasoned firm cheese from Aleppo; balls of goat labneh and fresh sumac; makdous, baby baladi eggplant filled with walnuts and garlic; humus with Syrian fava beans; and more. After the first course, diners are invited to choose an individual Jordanian-style main course. For dessert, warm baklava and sweet tea are served against a backdrop of 50 shades of blue.
