| Pillow Fight
Amorphous furniture was also a strong trend this year, with lots of items resembling huge pillows, inviting you to surrender yourself to their softness and comfort. One of the most notable examples were the Baxter “So Far” chair and “So Good” armchair, designed by Italian designer studio, Studiopepe. Both the chair and armchair have a chrome frame and pillow-resembling upholstery around it. The two pieces complete last year’s beautiful Narciso outdoor furniture collection.

A carpet from the Kinooni Dialogues collection designed by Marcel Van Doorn for Fuli Carpet
Natural materials were everywhere at this year’s Design Week, with a strong emphasis placed on stone and marble, used not only in the bathroom or kitchen but in other spaces as well, adding texture, elegance, and majesty to the design. Italian brand Giorgetti for instance launched a limited collection of 12 stone tables made of labradorite granite from Madagascar, and Nina Yashar, founder of the Nilufar Gallery, showcased beautiful, sculpted side-tables designed by multi-disciplinary designer Khaled El Mays.
| Carpets on the wall Handmade brightly colored carpets used as wall art were one of the main features this year. Take Dutch designer Marcel Van Doorn for instance, who created the Kinooni Dialogues carpet collection for Chinese brand FULI Carpet, inspired by his visit to Kinooni House on Lamu Island in Kenya. His designs incorporate ancient symbols of Swahili culture and blend traditional carpet weaving techniques with modern ones. The collection was completed in collaboration with textile designer Tjitske Storm. The Kinooni Dialogues collection was presented in the renowned Rossana Orlandi Gallery.
