Ma’agalim transforming the lives of at-risk youth in Israel

Ma’agalim is an Israeli educational non-profit organization that provides mentorship programs for at-risk teens from the geographical and social peripheries of Israel and helps them undergo a process of personal growth. Shimon Bekaya, a Ma’agalim graduate, grew up in Lod to a family of Ethiopian immigrants. He used to bunk off class in high-school and was completely unmotivated to join the IDF, but the Ma’agalim mentorship program he benefited from, pushed him to believe in himself and realize his full potential. Shimon went on to serve in the IDF Duvdevan unit, and upon his release, turned once again to Ma’agalim for guidance, and was given the opportunity to consult with Tamir Pardo, former head of the Mossad. Today, proudly employed in a cyber security company, the field Tamir Pardo encouraged him to join, Shimon’s story is a story of success - from underprivileged kid growing up in Lod to young and upcoming entrepreneur.
