Studio Now Irit Biran – lawyer turned ceramicist

Irit Biran used to be a lawyer for many years until the pull between her career and motherhood became impossible to sustain and she realized a change was in need. She took a year off and discovered the joys of ceramics, creating kitchenware first for family and friends, then selling it in the little studio she opened near her home. With her new brand, called “Now”, Biran moved her studio to a beautiful space in Jaffa where she creates and sells beautiful ceramic objects inspired by her belief in minimalism and elegance. Workshops and culinary events of all kinds also take place in her studio. nowpottery.co.il @nowpottery

Igrushka Alina Levy – from working in social services agencies to ceramic design

Alina Levy started her career in the fashion world, but soon after the birth of her daughter, born with a hearing impairment, Levy left her job to focus on her child. She went on to work in social services agencies for 13 years. As part of her work there, she created an arts studio in a vocational center, which lit a spark in her that led her

to go study ceramics and create her own brand, “Igrushka”, the Russian word for “toy”. Her designs are full of color, on the verge of pop-art, not necessarily useful objects, but fun to look at, touch, stroke and enjoy. Most of her inspiration comes from the world of fashion. @igrushkadesign
