No matter how many to-do lists we write or time management workshops we take, most of us still complain of lacking the time to get everything done. So what’s the deal with time management? Many seem to believe that the phrase ‘time management’ is modern-day business jargon, but it turns out mankind has been having time issues since time immemorial. Even the Bible notes that “to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”. Ancient Greek politician Pericles remarked that “time is the wisest councilor of all”, while philosopher Theophrastus declared that “time is the most valuable thing a man can spend”. So what’s the “deal” with time management? Why do we even need it and is it actually possible to manage time? Anyone, business owner or not, can attest to losing the battle against time when it comes to getting everything done. The good news is that effective time management doesn’t depend on writing to-do lists. They may save you some time on occasion, but actual time management is a whole different ball game. Here are 5 rules to adopt from here on out:
