אדם - שם פרטי או כללי , ביחיד או רבים לדוגמא : the boys, Dan, my sister

חפץ או בעל חיים - ביחיד או ברבים לדוגמא : the cat, my books, a tree

מקום לדוגמא : Israel, our school, the parks

רעיון או שם עצם מופשט לדוגמא : music, love, work, fear, vacation, concert, problem …

סימני זיהוי לשם העצם בדרך כלל נזהה את שם העצם לפי מה שמופיע לפניו : o אחת המיליות : a, an, the, this, these, that, those o מספר o מילות כמות כגון : some, a few, little, a little, several, lots of, a lot of, much, many, o תוארי שייכות : my, your, our, their, his, her, its o תואר השם המוסיף עליו מידע . o צורת רבים לשם עצם ספיר : a man, an umbrella, three babies, a tall boy, my friends
