Practical Impact of The Commissioner's Unit Activity Collaborations with Civil Organizations Section23a (2) of the ForeignWorkers Lawstipulates that oneof the roles of theCommissioner for ForeignWorkers is "to collaborate with other people or entities, including employers and workers, in areas related to her role". As a result, the Unit placed an emphasis on collaborations with government departments, NGOs, and commercial organizations. During the year, the Unit conducts regular meetings with various parties of interest to ensure the safeguardingofworkers' rights and to identifydifficulties that ariseamong thispopulation. Inaddition, a significant portion of the queries submitted to the Unit are received directly from civil organizations such as the Kav La'Oved Workers Hotline and from other government units such as the Population and Immigration Authority. Ongoing collaboration is alsomaintainedwith the "Kol Zchut" organization that operates awebsite on the subject of various rights with the aim of enhancing the access to and improving the information about foreign workers' rights. The Unit also collaborates with the Institute of Immigration and Social Integration at the Ruppin Academic Center that strives to advance studies that address foreign workers' welfare and identify and remedy their difficulties. "Kav La'Oved" – is a non-profit association that seeks to safeguard the rights of the most disadvantaged workers in the Israeli economy. The association works with workers whose rights have been violated, via individual aid and public activity. Mesila – provides aid and social assistance to the population of status-less residents of Tel Aviv-Yafo. The center's services include explanatory activity, mediation, legal representation, exercising rights, humanitarian aid etc. Center for International Migration and Integration (CIMI) – a non-profit association active in the field of immigration in Israel. The association implements international standards in handling a wide range of immigration-related issues relevant to Israel and Israeli society. "Kol Zchut" – a comprehensive database on rights and ways to exercise them that includes 6,747 entries in Hebrew. The database is the product of collaboration between dozens of organizations and leading rights experts from the government, social organizations, and academia. Keshet Shelter for Trafficking Victims – the shelters are intended to provide humanitarian assistance, a variety of support services and the initial stages of the rehabilitation process for women and men who are victims of human trafficking. Federationof FilipinoCommunities in Israel (FFCI) – the Facebook page provides access to information for workers from the Philippines in their own language. Oshi – the page's manager and a social activist – is a caregiver worker who has been living in Israel for several years.
