When Gal Gadot, Israel’s most successful international actress, model, and producer, and Rotem Sela, the busiest actress and tv host in the country, meet for a photo shoot, the superstar aura they both possess, melts away and is replaced by the familiar dynamic of two good friends hanging out. They recently shot the new EL AL safety video together (see below), offering us the perfect opportunity to sit down with them and discuss all things motherhood, friendship, and fame. On set and beyond friendship & professionalism When you’re on set, you go from being two friends who hang out together, to two professionals working on a project. Does that change anything to the dynamics of your relationship? Rotem: “The truth is it doesn’t. We’ve always been good friends, on set and beyond”. Gal: “It just gives us another excuse to meet up, and working together feels completely natural”. What’s the most surprising thing you didn’t know about each other that you discovered working on this project? Rotem: “You could say I always knew it - but it just confirmed to me what a pro Gal is. She arrives fully prepared, gives her all, and she’s just so talented”. Gal: “I discovered that Rotem is definitely more of a diva than me. All I asked for was to have some Medjhool dates on set! But truly – nobody’s more of a pro than Rotem. She’s all about the details, big and small”. When you look at each other on set, what’s that one thing that makes you say to yourself: “Wow, I need to learn that from her”? Rotem: “Gal is pure kindness. She’s nice to everyone, makes sure

everyone has a good time. When you’re so good on the inside, it radiates outwards, and it sets the tone”. Gal: “On set, everyone loves Rotem and she loves everyone – and this shoot finally gave us the opportunity to work together, and I’m so happy about that”. Considering both of you are always in the spotlight, what’s the most banal or boring thing you do together, that allows you to feel completely normal? Rotem: “We love organizing pajama parties with all of our other women friends, and just chat and relax, and laugh about everything”. Gal: “Same answer!” Flights are the only time you can’t be reached. What’s the first thing you do as soon as you fasten your seatbelts and put your phone on airplane mode? Rotem: “I open a book. Flights are one of the only places you can dive into a book without being constantly solicited from the outside world”. Gal: “Sleep! It’s where I can finally catch some rest without being disturbed”. What item do you always have with you on a flight? Rotem: “I always have a snack on me, some kind of protein bar or chocolate”. Gal: “Headphones. I have to have them with me when I’m flying.” If you could choose to be anywhere in the world together for 24 hours with complete silence all around you, where would it be and what would you talk about? Rotem: “I’d probably choose to go on a safari in Africa – gorgeous landscapes and wild animals, and we’d probably talk about life, our kids, our feelings”. Gal: “Japan. I love its food and culture, and as we always do, we’d talk about everything”.

What makes you laugh? Gal: “My kids”. Rotem: “Ariel, my husband”. What makes you mad? Gal: “My kids”. Rotem: “Aggressive drivers”.

Between the two of you, who’s the most “Israeli” when they’re flying, and in what way? Gal: “I’m probably the most easy going of the two, like I’ll be ok with sitting in the middle row or last row, or agree to babysit a crying baby”. Rotem: “Probably me, because I live in Israel...”. Had you not become the superstars you are today, what would you be doing now? Gal: “I’d be in the world of law and diplomacy, subjects I studied; or maybe I’d go some other direction and become a sculptor or a doula”. Rotem: “I’d probably be in the world of business”.
