An undying spirit of creativity

For 65 years, the Israel Festival has been an important meeting point between artists, creators and audiences. Based in Jerusalem, the festival now extends to locations in the Western Negev and the Galilee. It offers a rich artistic program with hundreds of artists and cultural creators taking part. “The very existence of the festival is an expression of the sheer commitment of Israeli artists to continue creating, to make art and exchange, even in complex times”, says festival CEO Ori Vaknin. “The program this year focuses on art as a tool for survival and a means to activate the collective imagination”, explain artistic directors Michal Vaknin and Dafna Kron. “It was designed to establish fresh perspectives that enable distance from immediate realities so that the notions of “tomorrow” (a tomorrow through which the present can be studied) “possibility”, and “future”, can exist and call us into action – and not from the idea that everything is never ceased to go on creating.
