On the rooftop of the Azrieli Tel Aviv Mall, inside a spectacular new art space, a new immersive photography and video art installation takes visitors back to the most dramatic events and moments that have shaken Israeli society since October 7 2023. The project was instigated by internationally acclaimed photojournalist Ziv Koren and poet and writer Noam Horev, with the idea for Horev to put words to Koren’s photos. A photography book is also being published alongside the exhibition, with Koren’s photos accompanied by texts and poems by Horev, some written especially for the occasion, some taken from his book “Transparent Threads”, written as the events of these past years were unfolding. Across 500 square-meters, huge video mapping installations take visitors (equipped with smart headphones) through various narrative stations: first the shock and chaos of that terrible morning, then the heroism of the fighters and local communities, and the hope and the rebuilding. Koren’s powerful photos, combined with Horev’s moving words bring each dramatic moment to life, in all their intense poignancy, weaving together the personal and the collective, the pain and the hope. Since October 7, both Koren and Horev have considered it their mission to document reality: “this is our attempt to take the innumerable moments and testimonies burned in our psyche, try to put words onto them, and with the help of innovative technology, offer an experience that can not only be seen, but actually entered into,” says Koren. “Countless stories have been told and retold since October 7”, Horev adds. “During these complex times, I felt the need to put into words the heroism of the fighters, the strength of the people, the moments of humanity”. This incredible exhibition takes visitors back through the dark corridor of some of the most dramatic moments in collective memory - an extraordinarily powerful experience. ˆ Until the end of October 2026, Azrieli Mall Rooftop, Tel Aviv, Sun-Thu: 10am-8pm, Fri: 9am-3pm, NIS 39 tickets via tickets.leann.net/event
