Forest Bathing Shinrin-Yoku is the Japanese physiological and psychological exercise of bathing in the forest. Shinrin is the Japanese word for forest, and yoku, the word for bath. The idea is to bathe in water in a

place that is immersed in nature and close to trees. The science behind it: trees emit energetic compounds known as phytoncides which possess antimicrobial qualities. Breathing them as you bathe in water can strengthen the immune system and reduce stress. But if you don’t have a forest nearby, just spending time in nature can improve your state of mind and reduce any feelings of stress.
