The Department of Communication Systems Engineering (established in 1997):Research areas include network architectures and protocols; the Internet of Things; cloud computing; network security; network multimedia systems (video and voice); wireless communication; social networks; information theory; machine learning; big data; and distributed computing. The Department’s graduates master the ability to characterize, analyze, and design complete, full-scale communication systems, including hardware elements (designing the computers, interfaces, and logic circuits); software elements (system analysis, design, and programming); and to manage, analyze, and design public and organizational communication systems.
