BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY | THE WAY FORWARD

such events increases participants’ knowledge, expands their skillsets, and broadens their horizons. Without donor support, these prominent events would be off limits to BGU students, and they would lose out on a tremendous opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Success in such international competitions demands a high level of English, a wide range of skills, teamwork, confidence, and excellent presentation capabilities. Despite the rigorous demands, nothing can compare to these events which test participants’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills to a real-world

challenge, provide outstanding networking and mentoring opportunities, and bring students face to face with their peers from other countries, building bridges and breaking down stereotypes, one interaction at a time. In these competitions, where BGU has been the only Israeli university participating, students also play a role in raising the profiles of BGU and Israel on the international stage. In this way, students’ participation in these competitions has had a ripple effect, providing team members and course participants with invaluable skills, while benefiting the University and country.
