Ben-Gurion Archives

Share Life, Legacy of

Israel’s First PM

Since the Ben-Gurion Archives reopened in its new home a year ago in May, honored guests from Israel and around the world have come to visit and discover more about Israel's founding prime minister. These guests include foreign diplomats, former and current IDF chiefs of staff, top police brass and Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, as well as many University

supporters. All were universally moved and inspired by their visit. David Ben-Gurion passed away in 1973, leaving a treasure trove of information not only about his life, but also about the establishment of the State of Israel. Initially, a small portion of the archive was kept underground on the Sde Boker campus, while the government kept the originals of most of Ben Gurion's important papers at the IDF and state archives.
