realities of diverse student groups, and develop applied, student-led initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of creating a shared inclusive campus. Poetry Community (third cohort): A program centered on cultural dialogue through multilingual creative writing in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. Sabaya Circle (second cohort): A program facilitating in depth personal and cultural engagement between female Jewish and Arab students. A new initiative, the Environmental Incubator , will be launched this year. The program provides a framework for Jewish-Arab learning and joint action around environmental challenges specific to the Negev region, linking shared environmental responsibility with social partnership. STRENGTHENING A SENSE OF BELONGING A sense of belonging and trust in the institution play a critical role in reducing dropout rates among students from underrepresented groups. In response, the Office conducts training sessions with both students and faculty, focusing
on identifying needs, addressing tensions, and establishing principles for respectful and inclusive discourse. These efforts emphasize the possibility of continuing to work side by side within a shared institutional framework even in contexts of disagreement. Another key activity involves strengthening the pedagogical abilities of academic faculty to teach in diverse classrooms. In collaboration with the Unit for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning Quality, professional development sessions addressed creating an inclusive learning environment, managing charged discussions around complex issues, and developing the skills necessary to guide a respectful and secure multi voiced dialogue. EXPANDING ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION The second main goal of the Office’s work is to expand access to higher education for underrepresented populations. Activities target four primary groups: Arab and Bedouin students, graduates of the ultra-Orthodox education system, students of Ethiopian descent, and first-generation students in higher education.
