BGU | Fundraising Handbook
Faculty Forum for Shared Space The Faculty Forum for Shared Space was established as a framework for 20 faculty members at BGU who are interested in acquiring resources to promote equality and justice, combating racism, and promoting relations between Jewish and Arab students. This framework will allow those faculty members to initiate related activities and influence daily life on campus and will also provide them with the knowledge and tools needed to collaborate and nurture these budding communities of knowledge and entrepreneurship. This forum will allow the University to expand its influence and promote meaningful action. Gvanim Program for Senior Staff The Gvanim program aims to equip senior faculty members with tools to adapt their work methods to meet the unique needs of BGU’s diverse populations, create an inclusive academic environment, and identify and address existing barriers. The program includes meeting with students from diverse backgrounds at BGU and leading role models from different communities in the Negev. Enlisting Support for Diversity and Inclusion Segmentation in Israeli society is deeply entrenched, and the existing inequalities have built over decades. Our efforts to meaningfully address these challenges with the establishment of a wide range of programs at the student and faculty level have just begun. The Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion is highly motivated to effect change on campus, but its ability to increase its initiatives and reach more members of the BGU community rely on donor support. Each of the programs described above could benefit from donor support, which could lead to the establishment of more programs. In addition to these programs, donors can support scholarships and fellowships, designating them for members of underrepresented groups at the University. Expanding access to academia bridges social gaps and drives social mobility by creating opportunities for those pursuing higher education, fostering personal growth, professional advancement, and enhanced socio economic status.
Reporting Reporting varies depending on the program supported. An annual report on activities and programs receiving donor support will be provided for the funding period. In terms of named entities, a report upon completion of the project or a video- or photo-based report will be provided. The impact of efforts to promote diversity and inclusion will be felt far beyond the University’s gates, contributing to greater unity across Israeli society. Such unity is much needed, contributing to Israel’s strength and resilience, its ability to recover from the attack and war, and its ability to create a brighter future. Gifts in this area enable donors to play a role in this.
